Skimmer vent

I was looking at purchasing a skimmer vent for my sro-5000. First if I were to purchase the vent through coralvue, is it recommended to glue it on with pvc solvent? Second, do they make any adapter for metric to U.S measurement that would allow me to make my own. I believe the 1 1/2 in pipe is a little to small to connect to the output?
