Power cord issue?

Well small snails are usually the culprit and stop my pump, but I can usually clear them out and do the connections again. Usually I have to jiggle the one power insert so the controller goes a little wacky with the blue lights and eventually it will start. However this time it keeps going out and when I finally get it to run it will stop as soon as I let go of the power insert. It seems like I need to keep the power insert at an angle and once I put it on the ground it eventually stops running again. Any advice or is this something faulty with my controller/power cord?
