Hello, I have just put together the skimmer and tried to hang it up, but the problem is the fish tank. It’s Fluval 46 gallon and has a plastic rim around the tank. It prevents a skimmer to sit about 2” lower than it should. Please help me solve this issue. I really don’t want to return it just bcs of that. Thank you.

You can always extend the pvc that goes into the water by purchasing pvc couplings and pipe from our website:

I need an advice. Mine is a brand new 50g tank, live sand live rock, and obviously a brand new skimmer. I have a canister that has and will have only Chemi-pure Elite media. my question is when during cycling do I start running HOB-1000 skimmer, day one, week one or after cycle completed? Thank you.

I would run the skimmer from day one as it will help remove the in organics that are produced in a new tank and help prevent algae growth. Please be aware that the skimmer can overflow during this time and especially since it is a new skimmer and will also be breaking in during this period.
