I have a Diablo DSC-150. It is still in the break in period. I have it in 6 1/2 inches of water. Which has raised my return pipe above the water line. That is making alot of noise. Would it do any harm if I added a elbow to point the water down into the water?

No it won't but that will not help with the splashing sound. Here is what we recommend that completely takes care of any splashing water sound...
