Icecap 3k Gyre

Hello. So I was trying to figure out how to set my icecap to alternating gyre and it didn’t seem to work. I searched online and I found a site that said you need to purchase additional blades to work the alternating gyre mode. Is this true? I love the gyre so far, but I couldn’t believe after spending $200, that if I wanted to use the “special” gyre alternating mode that is advertised for this unit, that I would be required to purchase additional blades.
