I have the reefer 250 (63 G including sump) Set up the tank a week ago and decided to start the Skimmer.
it produces bubbles and I understand that needs to break in but oh boy this thing is noisy. is making a gurgle noise from the top hole on the adjuster (air Line) that you really cant have this thing on. Tank is in the living room and you cant even hear the tv is so loud. The level of water for the skimmer is between 7.75 to 8" which I read is where it needs to be. Please Help! Thank you!

Is the air hose pushed all the way up the red pipe? Its the end of the hose attached to the red pipe cap? If so, it should not. Push the airline all the way up the red pipe and when you install the cap, just push the airline to the side. Do not attach it.

That is a little high. I would bring the foam down to just above the bottom of the collection cup.

I am having the same issue with noise, except mine is a 150 sss elite. How can I fix it on this one? Makes a loud bubbling sound, very similar to the video. To describe the noise, its sound just like water boiling.

Young,

Please remove the silencer from your ELITE 150SSS and see if there is a foam inside the silencer. Let me know,

Carlos, I would check if I could. But the silencer in my unit is glued from the factory. There is signs of pvc glue at the bottom of the silencer. The top, I do not see the glue, but when I try to force it out, it wont budge at all. I can get a wrench to it, but scared the top is also glued. Would hate to break a new skimmer.

Hmm, the silencer should not be glued at all. Please submit a private ticket and include pictures where the PVC is glued so we can see and ask the manufacturer about it. Be sure to include proof of purchase as well as the serial number on the back of the pump.

Sure, but let me see if MarineDepot will take a return back on the unit. I think that process will be much easier.

I will be happy to send yo a replacement silencer that is not glued. That would be quicker than returning the whole thing but it is up to you at the end of the day.

Im at work right now, so I cant get the pictures to you. And I know im coming close to the return policy date so I dont want to miss that opportunity. This is by far the most expensive skimmer I have purchased, and yet its the most noisiest of them all.

Maybe it is a bad silencer, but I wont know until I get a replacement from you. And no idea when that might arrive. And if it isnt that, now im stuck with a skimmer I do not want.

Ill post some pictures of the glued silencer later in the day. I do appreciate the help, its just im under a time constraint at the moment.

The bottom of side of the silencer is glued but the top side is not. Please make sure that you are removing the top side. It will come off.

Well, the top is on there really well. So I did not force it open yet. But looking through the holes, I can see black foam inside the silencer.
