I’m running into a frustrating issue with my KH Carer. Even after going through the full calibration process, the unit continues to overshoot significantly during titration.
System Overview:
Tank KH (Hanna Checker): 9.2 dKH
KH Carer reading mid-test: e.g., 7.3 at 48%, 10+ at 64%, 12.9 at 65% before it finally stops
Reagents: Fresh KH Test and KH Rise Reagents
Lines flushed, tubes emptied/refilled, no air bubbles
Calibration factor: was stuck at 0.61 after calibration, even though Hanna read 9.2 — later showed 1.51 but still overshooting
Other Notes:
I'm using the older KH Carer app due to functionality issues with the updated one
Reagent ratio is 1:8 for 750mL
Test mode is manual, and I always input the Hanna value after calibration
I did miss the pill once during a test, but I’ve corrected that since
Problem:
No matter how many times I recalibrate and input the correct Hanna value, the machine doesn’t stop at the correct endpoint. It sails past 9.2 dKH into the 12s or 13s during manual testing. This is burning through reagent and obviously killing trust in the readings.
---
Anyone else experience this?
Is there a fix for this issue — firmware-related, app-related, or a calibration trick I’m missing?
Appreciate any help. I want to trust this device, but I’m about to shelf it if I can’t get stable readings.
Thanks in advance.
