I've tried different outlets, etc, but the pump is not powering on. What should I do? Also, are the sponges necessary? Can I remove them without affecting performance?

Have you taken the pump apart just to see if something may be jamming the impeller? Also check the magnet for cracks or signs of swelling. Finally, check the ceramic shaft that runs through the impeller and make sure that it is not broken.

Hmm when I pull the magnet part off, the impeller will start once I poke at it a couple times. I'll have to take it apart and examine better when I get some time. Once it starts its fine, but it's when I unplug it and plug it back in that it has a issues. Thanks for the reply
