I purchased an IceCap K2-160 skimmer about 6 months ago. I took it out for a thorough cleaning and noticed some build up (? mold) inside the silencer underneath the air intake tube. Is there any way to disassemble the silencer to clean it out? I tried going in with a Q-tip but that wasn't quite long enough and didn't help.

The silencer can be cleaned by running hot water down inside the silencer and shaking to remove/dislodge the dirt and saltcreep. If stubborn a toothpick should break it free. Remove the screw for the air flow to allow the water to drain out.
