My question. The Autoaqua smart Ato I purchased seems to be inconsistent I place it at the desired water height in the return section of the sump. It seems to keep the water constant for a day or two. But seems to fill a lot in a four hour time frame I counted at least 4 to five fills. Also there are times when I check it and the water line is an 1" above the ATO. Then I get the blue alarm saying it's been a long time since last fill period. It does not slide down it is firmly in place. Twice since I have had it , it has emptied the entire top off container into the sump. Is there an issue with it? Or is this normal? There is now way for it to siphon as the hose is at the very top of the sump well above the water. The tank is a 125gal with a 30 gal sump. Thank you! Tim.

Is the water container at the same level as the sump or is it below the sump?

Same level as the sump. It's actually a 10gal aquarium right next to the sump. I usually fill with between 5 and 10 gal of water.

When the water reservoir is at the same level as the sump, you have to be careful that the water level of a full container is below the level of the end of the hose inside the sump. Otherwise, you will create a siphon that will drain the entire tank into your sump.
