I´ve recently bought a Diablo DCs-300 skimmer and a diablo 10500 water pump.
Now I need to buy a skimmer for 200 gal.

I didn´t used them yet but I see that all Diablo DC pumps are retired from coralvue.

1- Should I buy another Diablo DC pump skimer or should I buy a bubble blaster one?
2- What spare parts should I buy for DC pumps? I´ve read that having an extra DC controller would be great (more if I have 3 of these pumps).

Regards!

Yes, the DC pump is going to be retired and a new version of the pump is coming out in a couple of months with a new version of some of the skimmers.

If you are looking for a skimmer now, here is what I would recommend on your 200 gal system... http://www.coralvue.com/reef-octopus-sro3000int-super-reef-protein-skimmer

In terms of spare parts, even though we are retiring the pump, we will still honor the warranty and do support for it. But if you want to purchase extra parts, I would recommend the impeller and the controller box just to have in case something happens to one of them.

Thank you for your fast response Carlos.
Is is a shame I´ve just bought 2 large pumps that are retired from the market. I haven´t used them and I realize it was a bad idea.

Will new pumps fit my DCS-300 skimmer? What pump would you recomend to have as a replacement? Since I live in Argentina I need 220V 50Hz versions or DC pumps.

Julio

Yes, the new pumps can be retrofitted to older skimmers. They have a slightly different volute but we will sell the modified volute that would make the pumps backwards compatible. Not sure about the 220v version. I am guessing it will be a little longer before we get that version from the factory.

Is it possible for you to get me one Buble blaster and one water blaster pumps to have as back up? I asked in aquacave and they can´t.

If the DC pumps fails it takes a few month for me to get the replacement and it would be a dissaster for my systems.

i´m not sure if Bubble Blaster HY-5000 Pin Wheel Water Pump or HY-10000 for DCS-300 skimmer (maybe one a bit small and the other too large) and Water Blaster HY 5000 Circulating Water Pump.
Thanks, Julio

The bubble blaster pump will not fit on the DCS skimmer. The only pumps that fit that line are the Diablo pumps.

In terms of the return pump, you can go with an Water Blaster 10000 or a 12500 with a gate valve.

But may I modify the intake of the skimmer to use it? I´ve read that bubble blaster pump´s are very reliable and that´s what I need.

For return I´m not sure if WB 10.000 will be a lot of flow. With the DC pump I chosed a bigger model because I can dial it down.
I don´t like to use a gate valve because it reduces efficiency. If HY5000 is not enough I can buy another one and have two circuits (I´ll have 10 60 gal tanks).

If you can get me these pumps in 220V I would also buy the skimmer you recommended me.

Julio,

We only have the HY10000W in 220V. We do not have any other pump in that version and we do not know when we will be getting a new shipment of them.
