We purchased a space saver SSS150 for our 110 gallon live rock aquarium. We set up the skimmer on Monday night and the bubbles are only half way up the neck. The bubbles have changed and we do see some brown on the top of the bubbles but they are nowhere near the neck and collection cup. Is this normal? What are we doing wrong.

Yes, that is normal. The skimmer needs to break in first so for the next 3 weeks, it will go up and down the neck and act erratically until the break in period is over and the skimmer normalizes.
