My skimmer is making all kinds of irritating loud noise. I just bought this skimmer January 9th, 2014. I just put it up and I just put in my sump last Saturday and it's making all kinds of humming noise. I have it in a 40 gallon breeders sump. It's a reef octopus 200 8 INCH.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Could it be possible for you to remove the pump and take it apart and see if there is anything wrong with the impeller or it's shaft?
Sometimes snails or rocks get in there and will cause the rattling noise. Or, if the shaft cracked because it was already stressed during shipment, it may cause the rattling sound as well.
