I bought one of your 250 watt selectable wattage ballast to replace a old Hamilton 175 watt. I wired it up to the light and set it on 175 watts. Plugged it in and the light came on for about 5 minutes then shut off. Did this several times so I turned the ballast to 150 watts and it stays on. Why? Bulb say 175watt 14k. It is a single end bulb. Also what is super lumens?

Super lumens is an overdrive feature, have you tried operating on super lumens?

Have you tried running a different lamp on the ballast?

i have not tried the super lumens. I did disassemble the lamp and cleaned and polished all the contacts and wiring before connecting to the new ballast. I did a continuity check with a meter to make sure nothing was crossed or shorting. I did try a old bulb and it did the same thing

Tried super lumens and light came on for less then a minute and went right out.
I dug around and found another 175watt 14k bulb and just put it in at 175watt. It is staying on. Maybe the others were just bad bulbs

Do you feel there is a problem with the ballast or the bulb?

Well now it is doing it with this bulb. I am starting to get very mad. I have checked wiring, checked bulbs, and even changed witch electrical outlet it's plugged into. I even ordered two new bulbs. I am not happy with your product

Tell me this. Am I using the wrong kind of light bulbs. The ballasts I had are the old magnetic type that way a ton and you could cook eggs on because they get hot. Any bulb I put in turns on and stays on. They are over 20 years old. Is there a special bulb I should be using?

I really want this ballast to work. Do I need a special bulb for electronic ballasts?

Electronic ballasts are designed to operate all MH lamps. I haven't see anyone else experience the same trouble you are having.
