Hello, I have a 220 gallon reef with a 72 gallon tank as a sump underneath . I have been looking for a new skimmer I had a 200 octopus extreme but the pump failed .

I have been looking at the 3000 octopus cone or possibly one of the diablo series skimmer . Would u be able to recommend a cone or diablo skimmer for me ? Thank you

Since you have 220 gallons of organic producing water, here are my suggestions:

If you are looking for an external skimmer, here is a great one... http://www.coralvue.com/reef-octopus-sro2000ext-super-reef-protein-skimmer

If you are looking for an internal skimmer, then this one... http://www.coralvue.com/reef-octopus-sro3000int-super-reef-protein-skimmer

If space is limited in your sump but you still want a skimmer in the sump, here is another one with a very small footprint... http://www.coralvue.com/sro-3000-space-saver-protein-skimmer

Thank you how does the SRO 3000 In-Sump Protein Skimmer compare to the

Super Reef Octopus XP3000I 10” Cone In Sump Skimmer?
which one is a better skimmer.?

The SRO-XP3000I is now considered retired and we no longer sell it. We still support it and have parts for it for people that have already purchased it.

Some of your distributors still sell the cone online and it's a little more expensive but has great reviews . But it sounds like the SRO 3000 is a better skimmer than the xp3000 if the xp is now retired ?
Is that your opinion also?

They are both good skimmers so it is pretty much up to you on what you decide to purchase. The XP3000I has been retired because there is a new version of the skimmer and pump coming out in the next few months. That is the only reason and not because there is something wrong with it.

Unfortunately we do not have any specs on it at this time. They will be released when the product is released around April or May.
