I need an adapter to go from the turbine pump 1000 directly into the double pump octopus skimmer(older model)

I already ordered a few parts but need the adapters because what I have now isn't working correctly. Thanks

Can you send us pictures of the pump and the skimmer you have? Let us see what you are trying to do so we can give you the link to the right part.

That looks like a Diablo skimmer. Do you know what model that skimmer is?

I don't that's the problem, I purchased off a guy getting rid of his entire hobby. Problem is with the skimmer not working correctly I can't cycle correctly. I am In the process of converting from a 90 gallon to a 180. I desperately want to break down my 90 but can't until this is fixed.

It's so old the collect lid has an etch of the octopus but you can barely see it. It has 2 inlets for pumps, but that's all I see on it. Can you send me a picture of a diablo and I might be able to tell you? Thanks for your help. I would rather not buy a new skimmer, I can't get the bubbles to start, all it does is swirl and foam heavy.

When I received the skimmer it didnt have pumps for it. So now I am using the OTB1000, but the adapters I am using are not sealed, they are make shift from Home Depot and are too long so I cannot fit both pumps in the sump. I ordered the venture from you guys only with a single piece that the hose connects to. However if you can provide me with 2 adapters I might be able to run 2 pumps. Although I recall when I tried to use the left side inlet bubbles were coming from the main chamber on the outside which tells me when force is applied VIA single pump. I hope that the OTB1000 are not too big for the Diablo. If you can help me that would be fantastic. I have begun to dump my water change from the 90 gallon into the 180 and I really need this skimmer to skim or I will have to continue to run 2 tanks, which I dont have the time or patience for at the moment! LOL

This is pretty impressive BTW. Thanks for all your help and time!!!

once we figure this out, IF we can, I have another question for you too.

....................Can the skimmer be on the floor of the sump? I have the water level of the sump in the middle of where the skimmer says minimum water level and maximum water level

The OTP pump is not enough pump for that skimmer and will not work.

You will need the Bubble Blaster 5000 pump instead...

http://www.coralvue.com/reef-octopus-bubble-blaster-5000-skimmer-pump

You will also need the right adapter which is available on that same page.

In terms of water depth, the skimmer needs to be running between 7" - 9" of water.

With the HY5000s pump, you only will need one. We will send you a way to cap the other intake so the skimmer only runs with one pump.

So will the one air silencer I already ordered be right?

What is the difference between the otp1000 and the bubble blaster? Is there a cheaper alternative? Thanks

One more question before I make my choice. It says the original retired Diablo come with 2 PSK1000s. I was wondering if I could use one of them instead of the bubble blaster. For two reasons the first is the price and the second is I have read some reviews that the blaster is too powerful the one you recommend.

I also need a new media reactor, something small. What do you recommend that is good for a 180?

No, the reason why it came with two PSK1000s is because it needs them. Otherwise, you will end up with the same issue you are having by running only one OTP pump.

If you are looking for something cheaper, we do have other skimmers that may be more around your budget but even then, the full body of the skimmer will probably be the same as purchasing the Bubble Blaster 5000 pump with the adapter kit.

Can you help me with a Media Reactor? Do you have them to purchase?

Yes, that is the correct adapter.

We are distributors and do not sell some items directly to consumers. Media reactors is one of them so you will need to contact your local store or check out any of the larger online retailers to purchase your reactor.

Is the above the actual adapter for the bubble blaster HY-5000s

You can select the right adapter right on the pump's page. Right above add to cart you will see a dropdown box with the adapter choices. Just select the one for you and that will be enough for the parts department to ship you the right adapter for you pump.
