OCTO 150-Ext skimmer O-ring issue

Just bought classic 150-Ext. Was able to install all O-rings except the one at the base of unit where the pump connects to the unit. The sleeve around the small pipe at the base of the unit does not go back enough to insert the O-ring. Any ideas?
