Purchased a new 110 three weeks ago. Put it in sump of new build 40gal display tank. The new tank is up and running three weeks. I figured I would start the tank with everything hooked up and running. 110 skimmer, bio-pellet reactor with 250ml of EcoBak plus pellets.
the tank is well on its way to being cycled. I have the 110 in a 30gal sump, nothing I do will get it to stop overflowing the cup. Foam just pours over the rim into the cup, filling it in seconds. I have tried different water levels from 4" to 8" nothing seems to make a difference. I would think that within 3 plus weeks the skimmer would be "broken in".
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I should probably add that I have the valve wife open, doesn't help, just a constant stream of foam pouring over / out of the cup

Are you using any type of start up additives such as bacteria additives, algae removes, red slime remover, water conditioner or dechloriator?

Yes, I am using Continuum Aquatics Gen MD bacteria product. I am dosing the tank every two to three days since start-up. Nothing else is being added to the tank with the exception of fish food every other day to maintain a level of decomposing food for ammonia generation.

Yes, the bacterial product is what is making the skimmer over bubble. Once you stop using that, the skimmer will go back to normal and will not overflow.
