I know the pump is apex ready as far as speed, but can the apex get the status of the float switch connected to the varios controller so i can be used in the apex programming? The only reason I want to know is so that if the float switch is tripped then i can apex can email/text me or sound an alarm where as the varios pump controller won't. If not I can just use a float switch connected to the apex.

No, once you plugin the controller to the Apex, it stops being a controller and becomes a link box. The float switch does not work. If you want to add a float switch with your APEX you would need to use an I/O Box and connect the flat switch that way.
