Hello, I have Giesemann spectra 3x250w and I have question. I have both megachrome crystal and megachrome coral bulbs. At first I was using Corals but it was too yellow to my eyes. Now I have changed it for Crystals, color is perfect now but it look dimm when I compare to Corals. What do you think which bulb is better for sps corals? Crystals has best color for me but I do not know about growth and coral health.
I also mesured power consumption from socket and megachrome coral takes about 350w (??) and megachrome crystal only about 310w.
Please give some advice, I think you really understand HQI lighting when I see all your posts different reef forums;)

Just like you pointed out, the Giesemann Coral is more yellow, but is better for coral growth. The Crystal looks better, but not getting coral growth. I recommend using the Giesemann Coral lamps and supplementing T5 or LED actinic/blue color spectrum so you can achieve the best of both worlds.

thanks a lot, I was hoping you say that growth is the same with both bulbs:( I think I will have to use to yellow tank. I have supplemented it by 4 ati blue+ but it is still not what I am looking for...

Maybe change the bulbs for radiums 20k would be the solution, do you think radium will be ok with spectras magnetic ballast or will i need to buy also new ballast? there is some Tridonic ballast now.

Radiums should be fine, most common used MH lamps.
