I purchased the BH1000 yesterday from a local fish store. Very impressed with performance, thus far. However, the intake is too low in the tank for the surface skimmer to operate properly. What are my options for raising the intake to accommodate surface skimming?

You may need to trim the pipe to raise the surface skimmer adapter.

Carlos, thank you for the quick reply. Your customer service is as impressive as the products your provide.

Is there a simple way to disconnect the intake pipe from the L joint that connects to the unit? I am afraid trimming the pipe will make reconnection very difficult using a PVC adapter.

Also, will trimming the intake pipe impact my warranty in any way?

Matt,

You will need to unscrew the elbow/pipe and trim it that way. If you remove the part before cutting it, it will not damage the body. Please be sure to make the right cut because if you cut it too short, we will not replace the pipe for you. You will need to purchase the part and try again. Both elbow and PVC pipes are sold separately so you would need to purchase both.
