Picked up a trio of luxcore 250w/400w switchable ballasts for my new build. Two of the ballasts are dead quiet and only get warmish when operating. The third has this low electrical hum and is scorching hot after it's duty cycle. Is this a sign of damage or just normal metal halide behavior?

May be happening during the break-in period. Try switching the ballast with one of the others to see if the hum follows the ballast or stays with the setup position.
