I'm not a big fan of power heads, and want to try something different. Can you confirm whether or not this pump can handle bring turn on and off (2 minute on 4 minute off ) for period of 8 hour a day.

The pump is not meant to be a power head. The pump was built to be a return pump or a skimmer pump. Something that is turn on 24/7.
