I am trying to prime the hob 1000. Every time I plug in the power cord and hold my finger over the air line. It just starts to fill up completely with water and overflows. How do I prime it? I watched the video and the guy fills his up to the outflow elbow. When I do that it justs empties out the water until there is only about 8-10 inches in the skimmer

That means something is clogged up inside the plumbing that is preventing the water from freely flowing inside the skimmer and out back to the tank. We recommend you take the skimmer apart and then put it back together. Make sure that you are installing the output and input correctly and not backwards as that will cause problems.

You know what. I'm not a moron. I've been into this hobby for 30 yrs. there is nothing clogging it. I finally found a video of someone having the same problem They kept priming it by unplugging the power cord quickly. Numerous times. Until it finally decided to start flowing. Well guess what? I did that and it finally starting flowing right. I truly hope I do not have a power outage while I'm not home and it overflows all over the floor and ruins everything. I have seen all of your bs answers that you have given other consumers of this skimmer that had this same problem. If I had known this I would not have bought it. But a lot of reviews were raving about how great this skimmer is.

Usually you only prime the skimmer when it is brand new. Once the skimmer is broken in, the pump will start the skimmer right away without any issues.
