420r Supplemental Lighting Question

I have a 420r that although still runs and looks great i would really like to have more Spectrum available.
Is there a less expensive alternative to supplement ? I'm not ready to spend huge $$$ on an upgrade to a light that still works good but has been retired. I've seen others ziptie light bars and strips to the light , is this my answer?
