Skimmer overflowing

I have an in sump Reef Octopus Skimmer (don't remember model) that is about a year and a half old and I can't stop it from overflowing. I had treated with chemi-clean over a month ago and after three 20% water changes still can't get the skimmer to calm down. The gate valve is working properly and I have checked the pump and it appears to be proper. If I plug in the skimmer it over flows with the valve wide open in less than five minutes. Ideas?
Thanks,

Are you running carbon? Water changes alone will not remove all of the chemi-clean. There is probably residual chemi-clean in the water that is making the skimmer overflow.

Good, I would recommend continue to run fresh carbon and more water changes until you completely remove the chemical from your system.

Can you please also tell me the model of the skimmer AND the measurement (in inches) from the bottom where the skimmer sits to the water surface line on the sump?

The model is NE-150-65308 and the water depth in the sump is 7.5 inches

Try raising the skimmer to 6". That may help some but you will still need to completely remove the chemo-clean from your system.

Carlos.....after running extra carbon all week the skimmer is starting to get it together. A few more days and all should be back to normal. Thanks for you help....much appreciated...
