Maxspect Ethereal LED app

I have the app for the Maxspect Ethereal LEDs loaded and configured on my wife’s iphone.
I tried to install the app on my own iphone but have noticed that I had to start from the beginning, and discover the lights and that the current settings being used on the lights are not there.
Is there any way for me to have the app running on two devices and have the current configuration available from both devices?

Paul,

Currently it is not possible to operate the Ethereals off of two or more devices. Maxspect is updating the current apps and firmware and it will be possible in the near future.

This is a necessary feature IMO. The phone I had been using to program my lights died and I had to start over with my new phone. I'm sure I didn't get the settings right. There needs to be at the minimum some way to backup your programming and restore it.

So the app updated itself on my phone. It wiped out my saved program without any sort of notification. It also still doesn't seem to have the ability to backup your program. This is absolutely unacceptable. I've run a software development shop for 10+ years now and if our software wiped out customers' settings without any sort of notification on updates, I would expect them to never use us again.

The ability to backup and restore your saved programs is an absolute must. How is this still not a feature?

We are sorry for the inconvenience. We completely agree with you and it is something that we have been pushing the manufacturer to deliver. Fortunately, they have come out with a new app that does allow you to save the program into your ICV6 hub so that you can retrieve it and run it from any phone at the same time. Here is the link to the new app...

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/syna-g/id1080917075?mt=8

Please know that the new version may require for you to update the firmware on both your ICV6 and your light fixture but this version of the app should notify you and let you do it automatically if you wish. This new version of the app is far easier to use as well and I think you will be happy with it instead of the app you were using.

This is the new version of the app I just got that wiped out my saved settings. It didn't seem to provide any options to save/restore settings and didn't mention it on the app page so maybe it will do it automatically now if I open it on another device? I'll have to try to a different device to see if it will. Thanks for the response.

Yea, the app does not have a way to save old programming created by previous versions of the app but any future programming is stored on the ICV6 module so any phones that connect to the same module will be able to retrieve the programming without any issues.

On a related question: I know I am on the latest version of the app, but how do I know what version of firmware I am running on the controller and how do I upgrade the firmware if I need to?

Since you are on the latest app, the app constantly checks the firmware of the Maxspect Connect and the fixture and will notify you when there is an upgrade. You can also click on the "gear" image next to the ICV6 or Ethereal fixture and it will show you the specs including the firmware version.

Thanks Carlos - I updated over the weekend and the settings for my lights are now showing on 2 of my devices ( yeah! ) without me having to re-enter the settings.

I did notice that the groupings for my lights were different on my two devices:
I have 3 Maxspect Ethereals
My iphone has LEFT and CENTER grouped together, the RIGHT one is ungrouped. This is the correct grouping
My tablet has LEFT and RIGHT grouped , with the CENTER showing as ungrouped.

I did delete the app and re-installed it with no change. Is the grouping data somehow kept local to the device and not stored on the IVC6?

Did you clear the cache inside the app? You can do this by clicking on the "Gear" image (not the spoke) and then tapping on "Clear Cache". That should work.

Just wanted to confirm that I can now open the app on multiple devices and the app will pull the configuration from the controller. Yay!! 100% pleased with these lights now!
