I have had a 2000 sss skimmer running for a couple of weeks and it does not produce enough foam to reach beyond the neck of the skimmer. When I adjust the water level in the skimmer up it just blows the bubbles out into the sump. Need some help to get this running right

how much water is the SSS in? What is the water level (in inches) from the bottom where the skimmer sits to the water surface line outside the skimmer?

How old is the system? All skimmers have to go through a breakin period in which they will produce bubbles and then stop constantly. This is due to all the oils that come from the factory. The oils are slowly removed by the water. Once the oils are off the skimmer, then the skimmer will become a little more stable.

Was sitting in the recommended 5.75 to 6", raised the water level to 7.5" and it seems to be working better. System is about 4 weeks old but the skimmer is about 3 years old.

Your tank chemistry is still sorting itself out so it will cause your skimmer to go up and down constantly. If the skimmer is 4 years old but has been offline but an extended period of time, then there is an added break-in period for the skimmer as well.
