Feed Pump / inlet leak

I just got a Regal 200EXT. My tank is 180 gallons. The instructions are a little confusing, it says 1.5-2 X tank capacity, which would be 360 gph, but also says 600-800 gph. What is a good feed pump? I want one that has 3/4" inlet/outlet, tried to use a new one from store with adapter but housing cracked.

Also, the inlet into the Regal seems strange. It just sets in the hole but tends to pop out when messing with the feed pump and has a slow drip leak. Should it be glued in? I don't understand why the inlet doesn't have a more waterproof connection.

Yes, you will need a feed pump that can give you 1.5x2 times your water volume but not lower than 600gph or exceeding 800gph.

On a different subject, your tank may be too small for that skimmer. Even in a heavily stocked aquarium, this skimmer needs at least 200 gallons tank (not including sump) to work correctly. Anything below that will not be able to produce enough organics to make the skimmer work correctly. You will likely experience periods when the skimmer collects great followed by periods when the skimmer does not collect anything at all.

That is unfortunate since I already bought it, I had a store owner order it for me to ensure against that sort of problem. There seem to be a variety of opinions on skimmer size. I thought skimmer size could be bigger when it is external. It seems to be working great after one day. My load is heavy and 180 is pretty close to 200, so hopefully it will work.

What about the water inlet on the skimmer? Should I epoxy that, or is there another way to make sure?

Yes, you have to glue it.
