I've been running this skimmer for approx. 1.5 years and I am completely satisfied with it. It does a fantastic job skimming and the product is of superior quality. My question: The paper that came with the skimmer states that I should maintain a sump water level of 5.5-5.75". And that is what I have been doing with good success. However, as I was "surfing" the net I fell upon a website that sells the same skimmer and their instructions suggest a water level of 6-7.75".(?) Upon further checking of other websites that sell the same skimmer they ALL suggest 6-7.75". So I decided to ask here. What do you suggest the sump water level be for best results?
Thank you for any input.

Bill,

Every system is different. Each system has different bioload and different filtrating requirements. The water depth of a skimmer is a starting point. if your skimmer is working correctly, then there is no need to move it up or down.

We usually recommend 7"-8" on that skimmer but again, it is just a starting point. If you lower the skimmer, it may work or it may start overflowing on you.

If your skimmer is working, then don't move it.
