Replacement pump for HOB skimmer

Hi, I have Reef Octopus BH2000 HOB skimmer and it's getting to be louder then I ever remember it being. I've already replaced the pinwheel with a new one but it doesn't seem to help. It uses the OTP 2000 pump, and I'm curious what would be a direct replacement, both physically and with comparable (or a little more) GPH and amount of air? My main concern is that it mounts up and fits physically as the input/output on the skimmer can't be moved.

Any help would be great!

Thank you,
Andres

I would recommend the following pump:

http://www.coralvue.com/aquatrance-2000s-skimmer-pump

Much better pump, better and pushing air into the water, and much quieter. It is the pump that is currently shipping out with all our Classic line skimmers. It comes with a 2-year warranty on the body and a 1-year warranty on the impeller/rotor.

Hi Carlos,

Thank you for the reply! So if I do get this pump it looks like I'd need an adapter (CLSC-2000HOB) and then it'll mount right up to my skimmer?

Out of curiosity, I read in a forum somewhere that the HY-2000s was being recommended for an OTP 2000 replacement, would that work as well? It doesn't look like the OTP 2000 is listed under "replacement for". I'm just curious if that was bad info or is it really possible? Can help myself, I see higher GHP and air volume and it makes me think better skimming :)

Thanks,
Andres

Yes, you will need to purchase the right adapter (can be specified on the pump page when adding it to the cart)

The HY2000 can be a replacement for an OTP pump but only on certain skimmers. Since you have an HOB skimmer, then your only option is the Aquatrance pump. The HY pump will not work with your skimmer.
