I cleaned the gyre 150 it was working fine. I woke up the next day and gyre isn’t working red light flashing. I took it apart 20 times and still getting a red light. If I put the motor in the tank without the impellers on it the shafts should spin correct?

Please do the following:

Remove the cages and the propellers from the motor block until you are left with only the motor block and the exposed shaft. Then go ahead and power up the pump and see if the shaft spins. The motor should run for about 10 seconds and then shut off as the controller detects the lack of water drag from the motor running without propellers. This is normal.

Does the motor run?
Does the shaft spin?
Is the pump completely dead?
Are the controller lights on?
Is the LED light on the power supply on?

I’m not home at the moment. When I put the motor in the tank without shafts a few days ago it was having trouble starting then would blink red. I got it to start a few times and run but it won’t start anymore.

Then most likely you will need to replace the motor block.

So I just got home from work and tried the motor without impellers. It had trouble starting then fired up and ran ok. I had to help it the 1st time. Starts perfect every time now. Now I look at it the shaft is longer on one side than the other. Is that normal?

If that is the case, then remove the magnet/shaft from the motor block and then just flip it and install it again. That will balance it out. It wont be perfect so one side is slightly longer than the other but not by much.

Ok so I got it to start in water assembled but gave me problems starting. There wasn’t any water pressure but it was spinning at 100%. It did the same at40%. I took it apart and started just the motor out of water acts like it wants to start a shut off flashes red. I’ve never had so many issues with a power head. Very frustrating

Sounds like you have assembled it but the propellers and the cages may not be in the correct position. Remember that the gyre has an A propeller and cage and a B propeller and cage. The A propeller and cage should be installed on the left hand side (M side of the Maxspect logo) and the B propeller and cage should be installed on the right side (T side of the maxspect logo). If you mix them up, then you will have exactly the issue you are currently having.

I can’t get the motor started without helping it. I tried the motor alone. It only started a few times without help. Not sure what is bad? Motor or something else?
