Hi I have Bh 1000 hob skimmer that has been running for three weeks now with no problems but today the power went out for about ten seconds and came back on and it started to over flow. I turned it off and turned it back on and it went back to normal. If I had not been home I would have had a big mess. What could cause this to happen and how can I prevent it from happening again? Thanks.

Christopher,

Thank you for contacting us. It sounds like something got stuck on the impeller or something got stuck on the skimmer's output that was blocking or reducing the water outflow.

There are two main reasons why a skimmer would overflow:
  1. Something is obstructing the outflow so the skimmer is intaking more water than it can push out
  2. You have added some type of chemical to the water such as stress coat or water conditioner where the skimmer creates excess bubbles and the collection cup overflows.

No nothing was in the out flow and I have not used any chemicals. I was wondering if the air intake needed a little help to get going and maybe the skimmer was just pulling to much water? Any way Its still a good skimmer I will just have to keep a eye on it. Thank you for your help.
