I have a sro-1000I Internal that stopped working last night. I took out the three screws and pulled out the impeller and noticed the magnet seemed to have cracked. Also, it looks like it broke of a piece of plastic in the motor housing. So, I was wondering about getting a new pump. What size do I need to order? Probably not safe just to get a new impeller right?

Thanks,

It really depends on the age of the pump wether or not it is a good candidate for replacement. We can verify the date if you can provide me with the serial number off the back of your pump. Otherwise you can replace the pump with a new Bubble Blaster 1000 http://www.coralvue.com/reef-octopus-bubble-blaster-1000-skimmer-pumpor an Aquatrance 2000s http://www.coralvue.com/aquatrance-2000s-skimmer-pump

Here are the numbers on the back of the pump: Hy-1000s and 0007994.

If I were to replace the pump, will the second one do a good job? I see it is quite a bit less expensive?

It is an older pump but is a early second generation. So with that said your have a greater chance of just replacing the parts and being ok. The aquatrance 2000s is what we now supply with that skimmer body and what I would suggest as a affordable replacement.

You would need the one for the Diablo 160s if you have the 1000lss like seen here: http://www.coralvue.com/sro-1000lss-protein-skimmer

Sorry in that case you would be looking at the Aquatrance 1000s http://www.coralvue.com/aquatrance-1000-skimmer-pump
The pump is not as powerful as the BB1000 but IMO a better fit for your 4in body.

Thanks Jeremy I appreciate your help. One last question, can you tell me the adapter number I will need before I order the pump?

The pump should mount directly up to your skimmer with the adapter provided. So no other component is needed. You would basically have what is now our classic 110 skimmer which is a well rounded skimmer. You may require to change the water depth in the skimmer compartment of your sump to 7-8".

Classic 110int: http://www.coralvue.com/reef-octopus-classic-110int-protein-skimmer
