VarioS-2 error - 15min and 60min LEDs blink - pump does not run

Please remove the impeller from the pump and make sure that it is not cracked or swollen. Also make sure that nothing is jamming the impeller and preventing it from spinning. Place it back in the pump and try again.

The impeller is binding on the mounting ring which attaches to the motor. Should this not be acting as a bearing?

That is the issue. You can soak the impeller in water/vinegar overnight to loosing the bearing. Then you can manually reinstall the bearing to the back of the impeller channel on the pump itself. Once installed and tapped into place, the pump should work correctly.

I will give vinegar a try. I have 2 Varios-4 and 2 Varios-8 pumps in the same sump. Should I expect the same failures from each of the pumps?

The impeller was free after soaking in vinegar for 18 hours. I reinstalled the pump May 20 and it appeared to be fine. This morning, May 26, it failed again with the 15min and 60min LEDs flashing red. I cannot find a spare impeller assembly on the parts list. Are they available from Reef Octopus?

I have been having the same issue today. I have spent 2 hrs trying to find out what the two flashing lights mean. This seems to be a big problem with RO and Coralvue. There needs to be a better solution than take everything out and take everything apart. A simple screen over the intake would go a long way as would some basic customer service… no answer from your service number.
