I have a 215 gallon SPS dominated display tank, (approximately 330 gallons total system volume). I currently use 2 x Tunze 6105's and 2 x Jebao RW15's for water flow. I am interested in the maxspect Gyre however am not certain if the XF150 will be sufficient for my system. I'd rather ramp down the pump and have sufficient flow than purchase a pump that is insufficient however at the same time I don't want to waste money and/or buy something that is overkill. So, the question is....will the XF150 be sufficient for my system or should I hold out for the XF170? What is the difference in capabilities between the two and what is the difference in price?

To get the best flow possible, you will need two pumps. You can run both on one side of the tank. One vertically and the other horizontally or you can run them on opposite sides of the tank either both horizontally or one vertically and one horizontal.

I understand there are no specs on the XF170 however you do anticipate it being for larger systems therefore rather than jumping the gun and purchasing 2 x the 150 wouldn't it make sense to see if the 170 would be suited for my system? Per one of the videos I viewed I believe the 150 was doing fine on a 5 foot tank with a single unit so maybe 1 unit of the 170s will suffice on a 6 ft system.

Yes, the XF170 will fit larger system. That is all we can give you at this time because Maxspect has not given us anything for us to pass along to you. We are waiting on Maxspect to come up with some numbers.

No updates yet. Maxspect is holding off on making any more announcements because they do not want to raise the expectations.
