The Power source was good so I opened the light since it had no power to it and found the connector was loose were it was suppose to be soldered to the control board making a bad connection. Has anyone encountered this or now a remedy. Resoldering would require 4 tiny solders I dont feel comfortable trying. Thanks in advance

Can you provide a photo showing the spot that has the bad connection?

Thanks for the photos. You can purchase a new driver board using the link below and it will resolve your problem.

Hi Lindsey, thanks for your response. Im not looking to replace the driver board because I am sure the replacement will be just as shoddily built as the current one. The light is less than two years old and cost way too much money to need to be rebuilt. Im probably best off selling my 300w razor before that one stops working too. There seems to be an issue with the craftsmanship of maxspect products. My gyre broke when it was less than 6 months old so I think I will just steer clear of anything with the maxspect name.

I'm sorry you feel that way. The problem you have with the connector that has broken on the driver board is not something I have ever seen before and it is definitely not a design flaw in the manufacturing or a common problem. It took some kind of force to break that piece off. It should not be any problem at all for the piece to be resoldered for someone with the right tools and experience, but you stated you are not comfortable doing so so I gave you the other option to replace the part.

As with any brand new product, the Gyres did have some kinks to iron out once on the market and they have made several modifications to greatly improve the product since it's release. We offer fantastic product support so hopefully you took advantage of that at the time so we could help you resolve whatever issue you were having with your Gyre.

Hi Lindsay thanks again for responding, I did not know you were an employee of maxspect I thought you were a hobbyist with experience in this field. As far as the Gyre it broke in less than 6 weeks so the local fish store owner offered me store credit. As for the razor there definitely was no Force involved, the light was working good it was nearly fully powered in the automatic setting while I was watching the tank it stopped working suddenly and wouldnt power on. I tested the ballast or power source and it was fine so I opened the light and discovered the poor connection. manually holding driver board in place the light turned back on. It was a poorly soldered driver board that caused the light failure.

You could also send the driver board into us to be resoldered. Let me know if you want to do this and I will give you further instructions.
