I have a ro ps 3000int that has worked flawlessly for over 3 years. My wife cleaned out the collection cup (which always gets done once a week). It now overflows, and has the following problems I have noticed. Nothing has been changed, added or tweaked in any way.

1) The output mod now has massive amount of bubbles coming out of it. So many bubbles that it fills my sump with a bubble foam across the top.

2) I have noticed that once the skimmer starts, as the water/bubbles come in from the pump, it begins to circulate and go up towards the neck. It then seems like a large portion of the bubbles cascade over to the outside ring and goes into the output---thus creating even more bubbles being expelled into the sump.

Like I said, I am baffled. It has run flawlessly for years. I need some help.
Thanks

Your water chemistry must have changed somehow and now the skimmer is producing too many bubbles. Please be sure to use new carbon to remove whatever was introduced into the water column.

Aside from PH swings, slight changes in salinity, and the occasional calcium dose, nothing has changed. Water changes as always.

You still need to run carbon to remove whatever it is that was introduced to the tank. Once that is removed, the skimmer will go back to normal.

Carlos,

I just wanted to say Thank-you. Turns out, my wife had some goofy oil stuff on her hands. I ran carbon, adjusted the skimmer so it didn't overflow, and by this morning-almost back to normal. Thanks again.

I am very happy to hear that. Glad you were able to figure out the source of the problem so it does not happen again down the line!
