Why does the pump supplied with the NWB 150 skimmer not have a support base to rest the pump on when it is attached to the NWB 150 body? What looks a bit like what was suppose to be a base on the pump is orientated on one of the pumps side. if I set the pump on this sort of looking base, the pump will not attach(screw on) to the skimmer body and is suspended with no balance or support and stresses the unit.
Can you please check this out for me. Thanks so much.

When you install the skimmer in the water, you do not need the base and the skimmer can handle the weight of the pump. You should always install the pump after you have placed the skimmer in your sump. Installing the sump first and then moving the skimmer (with the pump attached) to the sump will add stress to the joint and can possibly break the skimmer which would not be covered by the warranty.

Concerning same skimmer,My Sump has a baffle after the refug compartment that needs 10" of water level to continue to pump chamber. However, the max operating level for the bwm skimmer is 7.5". What would you suggest to make this work?

You will need to raise the skimmer. Here is something that we have to make raising the skimmer an easy task.... http://www.coralvue.com/reef-octopus-protein-skimmer-stand
