Hello,

I was wondering if it would be possible to run 2x 48" t5ho bulbs in series on each channel of the Icecap 660 resulting in a max bulb count of 8 bulbs? Since the 660 will drive 4x VHO's at 110w for a total of 440 watts, I figured it would also be able to drive 8x 54w bulbs. Or is there a limiting current that would make this not work?

Thanks,
Seth

Sorry, not possible. The IceCap 660 is a maximum 4 lamp ballast.

Would you be able to tell me why it is only a 4 lamp ballast? I understand the wiring harness is built for 4 lamps. And I understand it is designed to drive a maximum of 440w of bulb. What would stop it from driving 2x 54w bulbs wired together on each bulb channel instead of a single 110w bulb? Is it a limitation of available current? Bulb resistance? I am more looking for a technical response not a yes/no response.

The 660 ballast is a dual transformer ballast, each transformer is rated for two lamps. It may have something to due with lamp resistance of the filaments.
