i know it's the wrong impeller because the replacement has 4 dots, as oppose to what it should've been, a 3 dot imipeller.

I am sorry but the impeller you are referring as having 4 dots is in fact an OTP impeller. The OTP 1000 has 4 holes in a box formation as seen below. Please proceed with the use of the impeller.

maybe i'm missing some insight here. but the replacement is longer and bigger than the original part. the shaft is longer, the impeller is bigger, and i can't fit the replacement impeller into Aquatrance 1000 pump. (left=replacement, right=original part)

Are you trying to use an OTP impeller in an Aquatrance pump? That will not work. You need an Aquatrance impeller for an Aquatrance pump.

OMG!!! thank you Carlos. i bought the impeller because it showed up as a replacement for the BH1000 and it shows that it's compatible with it. i had no idea there's such thing as "Aquatrance impeller"

Here is the correct product you need. It also states the same skimmers. There are two different version of the BH-1000 skimmer. The older model came with an OTP pump while the newer models come with an Aquatrance pump. Here is the link to the aqua trance impeller you need. It also states in the product page that it is a replacement impeller for a pump used on the BH-1000 skimmer.
