I am trying to decide between a BH-1000 or a BH-2000 for my 75 gallon. This will be a FOWLR tank for now but eventually I would like to go reef with SPS corals. Which is a better solution should the tank fill up with residents eventually? Is the 2000 going to over skim while the tank is half empty?

I would go with the CLSC2000HOB skimmer. It will allow you to grow with the skimmer. Even though you may have a low bioload, since it will be a FOWLR tank, it will allow you to feed the tank more or more often and be able to handle that as well.

No, they are both pretty quiet skimmers. May be a little noisier at first while it breaks in but after that, should be pretty quiet.
