Vent valve on my CR140D calcium reactor

My CR140D calcium reactor has a vent port with an inline control valve on top of first chamber of the reactor. While I understand the valve should be open when doing initial set up of the reactor so all air can be removed from the reactor, do I close this valve during normal operation of the reactor or leave it open a small amount?

You can do either. We usually recommend you leave it open so it recirculates any excess CO2.

Yes, that should be fine. You should hear the reactor pump shred some bubbles every now and then but not all the time. Best thing to so is to install a pH monitor to ensure that the pH level inside the reactor is at optimal levels.
