There is brown gunk (probably some sort of protein/ diatom cluster) on the surface of my water. Near the surface skimmer, the brown stuff is not being skimmed down and through the tube; only water just below the surface boundary. The water level is mid surface skimmer attachment (see pic).The gunk just stays there, never being skimmed out. Is there a way for it to grab water AT the surface?

You may need more surface agitation as whatever is floating on the surface is oily.
