Hi. I am setting up a 90 gallon aquarium. And I received an NWB 150 skimmer from my brother, it has the OTP-2000 pump on it. I'm seeing that the aquatrance 2000 is the updated model pump for this skimmer. I wanted to know if there will be a notable difference in upgrading the pump, or are they similar in performance?

There is a substantial difference. The AQ2000S pump is more efficient so it uses less power and it draws more air into the skimmer.

Thank you. So I will definitely notice a difference in skimmate output?

Yes, as long as the skimmer is properly sized to the tank you have, you will see a difference.

Just one thing... Does your OTP pump have a large gray threaded output adapter or does it have a small black one? If it has the large gray threaded one, then you are good to go. If it has a small black one, then the pump is very old and there is no replacement for it. The AQ pump will not work with that older model of the OTP pump.
