I just recently purchased this to use on my 72 Bowfront. It says "For External use only" does that mean I can not run this in my sump? If so, its not too big of a deal, just extra plumbing, but I would prefer to run it in the sump.
How do you get the hosebarb to stay in the inlet piece? It fits into the little fitting but it just sits in there. Am I supposed to glue it in? I am not much of a plumber. Also the kit came with two reduction fittings, they each say metric on one end and British size on the other end. There are two reducers. One big and one small. Also, I have a pipe that came with the kit that's about 24" in length with B on it.

Anyone that has some answers would be great.

The skimmer is for external use only.

You will need to glue the hose barb to the inlet pipe for it to stay in place and not leak.

The reducers are to let you plumb the skimmer using regular PVC found at your hardware store instead of using metric plumbing which is much harder to find.

What about running it in the sump? Am I able to do that? Also what is the long pipe for that has B on it? plumbing into the sump for external use?

The skimmer was built to be an external skimmer and we do not recommend using it as an insump skimmer.

In terms of the B pipe, it can be as long as you need it to be but remember that the longer the pipe is, the more back pressure you will add to the skimmer to the point that you may not be able to lower the water level inside the skimmer because the B pipe is too long.

What is the recommended way to get water into the skimmer? Do I use a power head, or does it pull water in by gravity? Do you have anything I can go by to reference? The instructions are probably the most vague instructions I have ever come across.

External skimmers need a pump to push water into the body and to provide enough water for the recirculating pump to work. In case of the DNWB110, you need a pump that can push 1.5-2 times the water volume of your system but not exceed a total of 265 GPH.
