Is the 230 easier to take apart than the 130? I found it very difficult to get the hard bushing for the propeller off. It usually stayed attached to the shaft. Also, the motor block door was difficult to get out. I may have damaged the shaft because I put all new parts on and after a few days the pump was making an extremely loud sound and I had to remove it.

Yes you can but I suggest against it. The new controllers are far more superior than the old controllers that the price difference is minimal compared to the number of features you gain.
