I have upgraded to a full sump system and don't want to have to buy a new skimmer when I have this great working one. Am I able to use this skimmer underwater in the sump or do I need to hang it on the back of the sump? Also if I can use it underwater can I detach the pipe connecting to the pump so it can skim from the bottom of the sump instead of top skimming?

The pump is submersible. Unfortunately we have never tried or tested the pump and skimmer in such manner. It was just not made to be used that way.

No, the pump will function. Performance is a different story. We have not tested the skimmer and pump in the manner in which you are going to use it so we really cannot comment nor speculate on it working or not.

Sounds good, thanks Carlos! I'll definitely leave a comment here confirming it's performance after set up. My biggest concern was overall function and possible damage to the mechanics of the skimmer but with you confirming workability I'll definitely give it a try. Thanks again!
