Hello im looking into opurchasing a reef octopus skimmer. Ive been looking at 2. The SRO 3000 int and the Classic 250. i see the sro has the bubble blaster 3000 pump and the classic 250 has the aquatrance 3000 pump but on your website it says that the sro will do tanks up to 300 gallons with a light load , 220 medium and 180 heavy....the classic 250 says it will handle a tank up to 320 gallons with a light load, 220 medium load and 150 light load. Why will the classic 250 do 20 more gallons with a light loaded large tank but 30 less with a heavy loaded smaller tank? which pump is better ? I have a 150 gallon mixed reef tank.

Thank you!

Both skimmers will run on your system and they are both made to run on similar systems. The big difference is price. The SRO skimmer is more expensive because of the pump. Bubble Blaster pumps are more expensive than the Aquatrance ones. Both skimmers are meant to cover the same tank range but for two different budgets.

Which pump is better and why? What would you get if you were choosing between the two regardless of price and why?

Both pumps are really good. We use them on all our current products. The Bubble Blaster comes with a 3-year warranty and the Aquatrance comes with a 2-year pump/1-year rotor warranty. The Bubble Blaster is known for being a workhorse and the Aquatrance while a little newer, has been a really good issue-free pump.

If price is not an issue, then go with the SRO as the pump comes with a longer warranty.
