I just up grade my reef tank from 58 to a 125 gallon.
I have a 30 gallon sump and about 300 lbs of rock. The system has a little more than a 100 gallons total.
I was using a NWB110 skimmer before and I don't think it will handle the bigger tank. I have a friend that will sell me a diblo 160 cheap, but I don't know if that would be good enough with a stocked fish and coral tank. If not, I would have to get the 200 int.
please let me know my options.
Thanks
Alan

Your skimmer should be matched to the size of the tank only. You do not count the sump or rock when sizing a skimmer. So you will need a skimmer that is properly sized for a 125 gal tank regardless of the sump size.

The NWB110 will work but it is a little small for the system. I would go with a skimmer that is rated around 200 gallons.

Here are other skimmers that will work with your new system:

The classic 160 has the same specs for the diablo 160, both are rated heavy at 110 gallons. The diablo I can get cheap, but don't want to go thru this again.

The 2000 int is nice, but I can't afford that now.

The 200 int is rated 150 gallons heavy and is $300
